The Vice-Chairman of Ovia North East LGA, Edo State, Hon. Maureen Osaro Ekhoragbon has resigned from her position.
The resignation, according to a letter delivered today to the Chairman of the LGA and exclusively obtained, was based on “administrative, political, and governance grounds”.
While thanking the leadership of the APC, her followers, and well-wishers, Hon. Maureen explained that politics and governance are inextricably connected, hinting that her resignation could be linked to the political standoff in Edo State following the widespread rejection of the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki by members of the party.
There has been a slew of resignation in Edo State in recent times as government appointees and officials desert, in drove, the administration of Godwin Obaseki. The embattled governor is reportedly issuing threats to other appointees to prevent them from announcing their resignation over concerns that it would further demoralize his camp ahead of an internal primary he has little chance of winning.
