In what looks like a coordinated approach, residents of Benin City the Edo State capital wake up to Saturday morning to discover that some APC bill boards mounted at strategic locations has been destroyed and some outrightly removed.
Some residents who described the incidence as a mere waste of time haven received the messages there in contained in each bill boards, however expressed dissatisfaction on the Obaseki led Administration of being so vindictive and encouraging such barbaric act during his time. “Those who want to vote have made up their minds and this destruction will not stop them” a female resident was captured as she expressed her feelings in anger.
Reacting to the the ugly incidence, the Edo South APC Campaign Council described it thus: “The vicious destruction and vandalization of these bill boards and posters is not only barbaric, undemocratic, uncivilized, reprehensible, but a stark display of political brigandage and desperation of our main opponent which is in consonance with their usual style of violence, intolerance, thuggery, rascality, barbarism and undemocratic actions”
The Organization therefore call on the law enforcement agencies to be at alert and ensure perpetrators are brought to book. “Consequently, we wish to call on the Inspector General of Police and the Edo State Commissioner of Police to as a matter of urgency arrest all those who are responsible for this desperate act and ensure this does not repeat itself again to avoid a situation of self help by our members who are already provoked and vexed by this senseless act”
Recall that Edo Governorship election is slated for September 19th this year. The All Progressive Congress candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is up against the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki whose political fortune has dwindled over the past few Months.
